This
lesson uses chords that were covered in the Basic
Chords lesson. If you have not already done
so, take the lesson before attempting this one.
To
play this chord progression you will need to
learn how to strum. This is basically dragging
the pick across all of the strings used in a
chord, so that they all ring at the same time.
You can do this in two ways: downwards and upwards.
This is called playing a down-stroke or an up-stroke.
When
playing a down-stroke, move your whole hand
downwards so that the tip of the pick strikes
each string with an equal force. To do this
you can slope the pick slightly – let
the tip of the pick drag behind very slightly
when you strum.
When
playing an up-stroke, slope the pick very slightly
in the opposite direction.
Try
playing this chord progression using all down-strokes:
